Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer

Job Description:

Electronics manufacturing process engineer is responsible for developing, validating, monitoring, & optimizing various Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly process, including SMT & Through-hole, via the application of related experience and theoretical knowledge.  The process engineering position will serve as a site subject matter expert in solder technologies in ADLINK China.  This role is typically focused on high complexity manufacturing processes and is the key to the standardization and advancement of the processes in ADLINK.  This role is also responsible for solving high level customer / assembly specific problems in the manufacturing process.  This individual should have thorough understanding, or strong potential to be trained, of electronic assembly and design variables which affect product quality.  Knowledge in systematic problem solving techniques (PDCA, SPC tools, etc.) facilitates the problem resolution and process optimization.  The communication of technical issues with customers & peers is critical & essential as well.

 

Principle Accountabilities/Duties

1.         Developing SMT re-flow and wave solder temperature profiles through the optimization of process parameters and product specific characteristics to obtain acceptable solder joints per IPC standard and repeatability of manufacturing processes

2.         Performing time, efficiency and process studies and recommending solutions for improvement of PCB assemblies

3.         Streamlining manufacturing processes, procedures, work instructions to improve first pass yield, & eliminating rework and scrap

4.         Working with SMT department to improve solder paste and epoxy stencils printing, pick-n-place, and re-flow operations

5.         Interfacing with manufacturing engineers, customers, vendors, production, and program managers for problem resolution

6.         Handling multiple projects and priorities in a teamwork environment and perform job functions in a timely manner

7.         Implementing the relevant manufacturing best practices through working with technical staff from other ADlink sites

8.         Developing, introducing, transferring, & training new processes as applicable to PCBA manufacturing

9.         Participating activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements utilizing Lean, Six Sigma and other methodologies

10.     Implementing statistical process analysis on new and existing products

11.     Providing continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities

12.     Others as assigned

 

Qualification

1.       Master or Ph.D. degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required

2.       Intensive research & design of experiment capability will be required

3.       Working knowledge of Screen Printing, Pick-n-Place, Reflow Oven, Temperature Profile, AOI, X-Ray, and Wave Solder Operation will be preferable

4.       Experience with SPC, 6 sigma, and Lean Manufacturing implementation will be preferable

5.       Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal and customer-oriented skills

6.       Basic software skills
