Job Title:

SMT(Surface Mount Technology) Engineer

Job Description:

SMT Engineer is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing process flows and their associated documentation for printed circuit board assemblies with surface mount technology. This position also develops new process flows and their supporting equipment, production procedures and documentation. The ownership for SMT engineer spans over some critical areas of the manufacturing process such as machines, processes, and tooling hardware.

It is frequently required for this position to conduct experiments, DOE's and production validation runs for all aspects of the production floor, and coordinate experiments and process enhancements via the technician resource pool. This position is also responsible for developing equipment specifications for new and upgraded equipment sets related to surface mount manufacturing.

This position will be required to involve in supporting the initial SMT production runs and consecutive validation runs and create documentation for world-wide production sites.  This role will support global advanced manufacturing technology group in developing ADLINK’s SMT technology roadmap as well

SMT engineer will work closely with members of other groups both locally and world-wide including production/engineering teams, quality assurance, equipment support and printed circuit assembly design groups to jointly plan & implement improvement activities.

This individual should have thorough understanding, or strong potential to be trained, of electronic assembly and design variables which affect product quality.  The application of knowledge in systematic problem solving techniques (PDCA, SPC tools, etc.) to the problem resolution and process optimization is one of key success factors.  The communication of technical issues with customers & peers is critical & essential as well.

 

Qualification:

1.          Master or Ph.D. degree in Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or Control Engineering is required

2.          Intensive research & design of experiment capability will be required

3.          Working knowledge of Screen Printing, Pick-n-Place, Reflow Oven, Temperature Profile, AOI, & X-Ray, will be preferable

4.          Experience with SPC, 6 sigma, and Lean Manufacturing implementation will be preferable

5.          Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal and customer-oriented skills

6.          Basic software skills
