    Editor: Date:2019-10-18 Hits:1

In order to make the freshmen students have a clearer understanding of the materials major and better understand the research direction of the materials major, the School of Materials organized a laboratory visit to Yuquan for the freshmen. On October 11th at 12:50 p.m., the students boarded the school bus to Yuquan campus and started the laboratory visit of the School of Materials Science and Engineering.

At 1:15 p.m., the students arrived at Yuquan campus and they were divided into two groups and visited Center of Electron Microscopy and State Key Laboratory of Silicon Materials under the guidance of seniors and teachers. Electron Microscopy Center is the birthplace of the paper on high-entropy alloys recently published in Nature.

The students observed the thermal field emission scanning electron microscope and the field emission projection microscope, and asked many questions about the instruments and the laboratory, which were answered patiently by the teachers and seniors.

State Key Laboratory of Silicon Materials

The State Key Laboratory of Silicon Materials (SLSM) was one of the first State Key Laboratories in China, and was awarded the first PhD in semiconductor materials engineering in 1985. The teacher gave a detailed introduction to the origin and development of the State Laboratory of Silicon Materials, as well as the current development and research directions.

Through the teachers and seniors' careful explanation and close experience of the laboratory, the students deeply experienced the charm, potential and diversity of materials science and gained a deeper understanding of the major. This played a good reference role for the students' upcoming professional choice, and conveyed the spirit of seeking truth and pursuing innovation.
